A seaside destination
Although many people still have in mind the image of a very industrial and unappealing port city, the city has undergone major changes. Saint-Nazaire is a real seaside destination thanks to its ideal location at the mouth of the Loire with a rich coastline in a region with many tourist attractions: Guérande, the Noirmoutier peninsula, La Baule, etc. The immediate proximity of Nantes also enables the town to take part in the events and actions of the Voyage à Nantes, the most telling example being the installation of the astonishing "Serpent d'Océan" opposite the port, on the other side of the estuary.
Lovers of hiking and other seaside walks are not left out as the Nazairien coastline is renowned for its beauty and authenticity, as evidenced by the Porcé beach or the wild Pointe de Chemoulin!
